Armani Dresses Shine at Princess Charlene’s Royal Wedding In Monaco

Georgio Armani is no stranger to priceless style and royalty.  When the 77-year old Italian designer was commissioned to create looks for the wedding of Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene Wittstock and His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, Armani set his vision — and over 100 hours of labor — to create a glistening, off-shoulder gown of satin duchesse.  The amazing dress worn by the slender blonde princess was carefully designed to be  free of  “any obvious nostalgia” in regards the all-lace frock worn by Prince Albert’s late mother, the famed Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco.

“The idea was to go with a completely modern look.”  Armani explained to Womens Wear Daily.  “Each person has their own individual and unique style, and style is an expression of the times.”

Princess Charlene’s one-of-a-kind Armani Prive creation included golden floral designs embroidered by hand, mother-of-pearl teardrops and bedazzled with over 40,000 Swarovski crystal details. The gown was complete with 2 trains and a 20-foot veil of silk tulle, topped by an 88-carat “Diamond Spray” tiara designed by Lorenzo Baumer.  That is, folks, a wedding ensemble truly fit for a princess.

The new Princess of Monaco wasn’t the only vision in Armani Prive thoughout the weekend. Giorgio’s niece Roberta Armani wore a light pink satin for the wedding ceremony, while Princess Mathilde of Belgium chose a pretty cocktail dress that consisted of wisteria silk.  Charlene’s father Michael Wittstock and brothers Sean and Gareth were dressed in made to measure suits by Armani.
