Rachel Zoe Talks To Elle + Spring’s “It” Wedges

Rachel Zoe’s ever-fashionable baby-to-be is in for one of fashion’s greatest surprises.  “Boy or girl, I plan to take this child to fashion shows.”  While rumors have swirled all Winter about Rachel accidentally revealing her baby’s sex (a boy), the Project Runway star stylist and longtime husband Rodger Berman are keeping things hushed for now.  However, the couple did agree to a beautiful photo revealing Zoe’s baby bump for’s “The New Modern Family”.

The petite Rachel’s appromixately 8-month pregnant belly was not too much to fit into a feral, zipper-detailed jacket and skirt from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci.  Rodger relaxed, accessorized with rings and Tom Ford pajamas.   When asked by Elle how the baby will be transported to the front row, the stylist replied “Isn’t that what husbands are for?”

Salivating Over Wedges

Rachel Zoe is known for her penchant for mile-high wedges, having been gifted with boots custom designed by contemporary shoe king Brian Atwood.  Find one of her handpicked styles for Piperlime (below) and a refreshingly lovable (and wearable!) printed canvas by Alice + Olivia.

Party Fashion – The “Un-Holiday” Holiday Style

It’s that time of year when many of us start thinking about that time of year– Exciting holiday parties, family gatherings and some frivolous fireplace chat.  ‘Tis the season to beware of the glitzy, overproductive holiday fashions that focus more on showy fabrics and less on body-flattering fits.  These tips for an “un-holiday” wardrobe make it easy to mix glamorous gear with comfort..  and leave the decorations for the tree.

The Mother’s Top 3 Shoe Styles for Fall

The Fall and Winter runways are commonly known for 2 things:  Fabulous fashion that skimps on practicality.  As fashionista moms, it’s often painful see our favorite stylists gushing over the benevolence of towering platforms and super-steep, spiky stiletto boots.  This season, leave the tottering to the toddlers and jump into this new and fabulous footwear.  The looks below are ideal for hours of activity without sacrificing style (or even heels!)

Flat Life

It’s a given that this style should be the most comfy of all.. right?  Cheaper synthetic styles or a too-pointy toe actually decreases the wearability of flat shoes, resulting in bunions and unneeded shock to the sole.

Below: Choose a flexible pair of ballet flats in non-leather or a preciously crafted slimline slipper. Pink studded, synthetic leather ballet flat at Express, $39.90; French-made Repetto Pony Ballerina flat in Zebra, $400 at Opening Ceremony.

Funky, Chunky Flair

Regardless of heel height, leveled-out platform soles create a more stable balance for shoes.  Ease up on the arch and keep comfort going all day with contemporary looks at Shopbop:  Wrap-detailed Karla suede pumps by Charlotte Ronson, $195; Julianne leopard-print wedges by Tory Burch, $325.

Bountiful Boots A shoeaholic’s paradise: Showstopping designer details and exotic embossing in a variety of price ranges.  Pick your color (and height) with fold-down faux shearling lined Orlando Over-Knee Suede boot by Sam Edelman, $199 at Bloomingdales; Front Fold Booties in patent and nylon, $54.99 by Isabel Toledo for Payless.
